Merrell becomes title sponsor of the Skyrunner® World Series

The newly christened Merrell Skyrunner® World Series is poised to become the highlight of the running season, bringing significant improvements for athletes, fans and media. New additions to the series for the 2024 circuit include:

  • Further global growth with more races in new locations, including Malaysia, Mexico, South Korea, Thailand and Turkey, thus acting as a global platform for the outdoor brand and allowing Merrell to be present in many of its key markets.
  • The new Esteban Olivero U23 Trophy, an under-23 classification aimed at supporting, developing and highlighting young athletes.

As well as serving as a platform to highlight Merrell&;s latest innovations, it provides an excellent opportunity to test products, such as the new MTL Skyfire 2 and the new MTL Long Sky 2 Matryx, on the challenging terrain for which they were specifically designed. There will also be public testing of footwear at events throughout the calendar, an initiative that was already successfully tested in 2023. Over the years, Merrell has always had a team of strong international athletes who have competed at the highest level on the circuit, including Ragna Debats, Denisa Dragomir and rising new star Louison Coiffet &; to name a few &; and we can expect to see many of Merrell&;s incredible athletes representing the brand again in 2024.

Jonathan Quint, Merrell&;s EMEA Product and Marketing Director , says, &;We have a long history of partnership with the Skyrunner® World Series, so elevating our collaboration even further allows us to continue to support the series and demonstrate Merrell&;s commitment to elite trail running. The SWS operates at the pinnacle (literally and figuratively) of our sport and it&;s clear that Merrell athletes and products do as well. The partnership is a physical representation of that. But it&;s more than that, we see the SWS team as great partners so we can both build on the great start we&;ve had in the sport.&;

Etienne Rodriguez, CEO of the Skyrunner® World Series says he is &;very proud to continue our partnership with Merrell for a fifth year. Our long-standing collaboration allows both companies to continue to develop a shared vision that will benefit the Series and its component races, as well as the sport in general. Merrell&;s sponsorship of the Series demonstrates its commitment to elite competitive trail running.&; Rodriguez added, &;In our effort to expand the Series around the world, we want to provide opportunities for people to run in unique and beautiful places, up and down some of the most captivating landscapes in the world. With Merrell, we are well equipped to make our vision a reality.&;

The Merrell Skyrunner® World Series begins next March 2 with the Acantilados Skyrace on the island of La Palma before visiting 20 locations on four continents and finishing back in Spain with the SkyMasters, Marató dels Dements, on November 16.
